Dr. Toussaint K. Hill, Jr., Pastor

Dr. Toussaint King Hill, Jr. is a pastor, counselor, professional speaker, administrator and education specialist with extensive senior level advisory, organizational leadership, funding and graduate level teaching experience.

As a pastor and spiritual leader, Dr. Hill has led a wide variety of ministries from the Protestant chaplaincy at the Allegheny County Jail, Pittsburgh, PA to the first African American chaplain in the 171st AFW Pennsylvania Air National Guard. He was the only African American male to serve on the inaugural Pittsburgh Citizens Police Review Board. He served as Pastor of Baptist Temple Church, Pittsburgh, PA. Presently, he serves as the honored and esteemed Pastor of the 128 year old West Hunter Street Baptist Church, Atlanta, Georgia, the spiritual home of Civil Rights icon Dr. Ralph David Abernathy.

With many years of experience, Dr. Toussaint King Hill, Jr. has provided bereavement and marriage therapy, mentoring, drug and alcohol addiction counseling, religious education instruction, and parental counseling to those in need. He has served as a therapist in an intervention program designed for substance-abusing African American parents also involved with child abuse and neglect. He also acted as counselor in a job training program designed by Mayor Coleman Young of Detroit to bridge community, age and social barriers between the senior citizens and youth of the city of Detroit. His other accomplishments include: being selected by Vice President Al Gore to serve on a commission to create a plan that would transform neighborhood education; organizer of 10 churches to form the Homewood Community Ministries; served on Mayor of Pittsburgh Thomas Murphy's Commission for Families; and many others.

Dr. Toussaint King Hill, Jr. has earned numerous awards for his outstanding work, including the Outstanding Young Man of America, The Lyndon B. Johnson Internship, United States House of Representatives; and being highlighted in Essence Magazine's "Morehouse Men Five Years Later" feature. Most recently, he was appointed to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College.

Dr. Hill graduated from Morehouse College with a double major in Religion and Political Science. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL where he was the first recipient of the William Holmes Borders fellowship, and he earned a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH where he was a Jeremiah Wright, Cornell West, Molefi Asante scholar.

Dr. Hill is married to the lovely Laurel E. Hill, Sr. Vice President in the Government and Institutional Banking Division for Wachovia Bank. They have two industrious and energetic sons; Toussaint King Hill, III, a 2008 Morehouse graduate; and Thaddaeus Kornell Hill, an honor student and athlete at Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA.
