West Hunter Street Baptist Church

Celebrates

Black History Month

On Saturday, February 28, 2009, West Hunter celebrated the rich heritage of our people with its 1st African American History Breakfast.  Guests came dressed in African attire and truly enjoyed a delight program, a delicious breakfast, and entertainment.

Sister Parks presided over the program which began with the singing of the Black National Anthem, "Lift Every Voice and Sing."  Sister Hall brought the welcome and Sister Wallace the purpose of the breakfast.  Musical selections were sung by Brother Riley and Brother Maddox, while West Hunter's Praize Team members, Sisters Hudson and Pierre performed a creative dance routine.  Following a delicious breakfast of bacon, beef sausage, grits, eggs, biscuits, juice and coffee; guests participated in a Black History Quiz Bowl.  All were eager to test their wit and knowledge of black history.  Some readily knew the answers while others made educated guesses.  Prizes were given to winners and everyone had an exceptionally good time!!
